Korean AI Semiconductor Startup Rebellions Raises $140M in Series B Funding

South Korean AI semiconductor startup Rebellions Inc has secured a Series B investment of 165 billion Korean won (approximately $140 million), bringing its total accumulated funds to 280 billion Korean won within three and a half years of founding. This makes it the largest among Korean semiconductor startups.
Existing strategic investor KT, along with new strategic investors KT Cloud and Shinhan Venture Investment, participated in the round, along with international investors like Temasek’s Pavilion Capital from Singapore and, which previously invested in Series A. Other participants include Korea Development Bank(KDB), Noh & Partners, KB Securities, KB Investment, SV Investment, Mirae Asset Venture Investment, Mirae Asset Capital, IMM Investment, KT Investment, Seoul Techno Holdings, Oasis PE, Gyeongnam Venture Investment, and SDB Investment.
In this Series B round, Rebellions attracted diverse investments from global funds, positioning itself for significant international expansion. Notably, Rebellions is the first Korean startup to receive follow-on investment from Pavilion Capital. Additionally, Fleur Pellerin’s Korelya Capital and Japanese venture capital firm DG Daiwa Ventures joined as new investors.
Capitalizing on this success, Rebellions plans aggressive hiring across various roles and actively seeks global talent. The company aims to advance the development of its next-generation AI semiconductor, “REBEL,” in collaboration with Samsung Electronics, focusing on large language models (LLM). With the production launch of the data center-focused AI semiconductor “ATOM” this year, Rebellions plans to actively secure domestic and international customers.
Rebellions CFO Shin Sung-gyu stated, “Despite a challenging investment environment, the significant 165 billion won investment reaffirms Rebellions’ strong position. This funding will serve as a robust foundation for expanding globally, accelerating planned business activities, and developing next-generation products swiftly.”
