Five Seoul-Based Innovators Achieve Approximately 39.7 Billion KRW in SCSE
The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 27th that domestic innovative companies achieved significant success at the ‘2024 Smart City Summit & Expo (SCSE),’ Asia’s largest smart city exhibition, held in Taipei, Taiwan, from the 19th for four days.
The ‘SCSE’ is an annual smart city exhibition held in Taiwan every March. Celebrating its 11th anniversary this year, the event was conducted on an unprecedented scale, with participation from 46 countries, 112 cities, and 85 mayors and deputy mayors, witnessing an approximate 13% increase in visitors compared to the previous year.
Following last year’s participation, the Seoul Digital Foundation again took part in this year’s ‘SCSE,’ operating a ‘Seoul Pavilion’ over four days with five innovative companies from Seoul, achieving 451 export consultations worth $29.5 million (approximately KRW 39.7 billion).
The five innovative companies that participated in the ‘Seoul Pavilion’ included The Spatial Party XR, offering an AI-based industrial site safety management solution; UPSIGHT, providing an AI deep learning-based smart building process management solution; PiQuant, featuring an IoT-based indoor air quality integrated monitoring solution; Aone Traffic R&D, showcasing a floor-type pedestrian traffic light solution; and K4SECURITY, presenting an IoT-based smart eco lighting solution.
Notably, ‘The Spatial Party XR,’ known for its AI-based industrial site safety management solution, confirmed a pilot project with the Taiwanese company ‘Freedom Systems’ after the ‘Seoul Pavilion’ exhibition, establishing a solid foundation for real overseas expansion through a visit to Istaging’s headquarters and discussions on investment.
Kang Jin-kyu, CEO of The Spatial Party XR, expressed his enthusiasm, “I am thrilled to have had the opportunity for substantive business discussions with local companies in Taiwan beyond merely promoting our solution at the Seoul Pavilion exhibition. I am grateful to the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Digital Foundation for facilitating such an opportunity.”
Beyond exhibiting solutions, the companies participating in the Seoul Pavilion had the chance to promote the competitiveness of Seoul’s solutions globally through the ‘Smart Seoul Company Investment Presentation (IR) Pitching Day’ and the ‘Seoul Pavilion VIP Solution Tour and Networking.’ The Seoul Digital Foundation also vigorously promoted Seoul’s digital policies and expanded its global network by holding meetings with city officials from the UK, Hungary, Slovakia, Japan, and other countries.
Kang Yo-sik, Chairman of the Seoul Digital Foundation, remarked, “The ‘SCSE’ goes beyond being a platform for business and technology exchange; it is a global event where city and corporate officials worldwide gather to discuss the future of cities. Leveraging the experience and network gained through this exhibition, we aim to successfully host the SLW event in October this year.”
