Uniqconn Raises KRW 10 Billion for Mass Production of Next-Gen Semiconductor Solutions
The South Korean system semiconductor startup Uniqconn has successfully raised KRW 10 billion in a Series A funding round. Located at the Compound Semiconductor Center, Uniqconn is a wireless semiconductor startup that is pioneering next-generation transmission solutions to replace traditional conductor-based connectors and cables. The funding round was led by Doosan Investment, with participation from Hanwha Securities, SV Investment, and returning investor LNS Venture Capital.
Uniqconn is developing transmission solutions that leverage advanced semiconductor integrated circuit design and electromagnetic wave technologies. These solutions are capable of enabling ultra-high-speed data transmission and reception, exceeding speeds of 10Gbps. Following the release of engineering samples, the company is now expediting the transition to mass production.
Currently, Uniqconn is collaborating with manufacturers of robotic arms, home appliances, and smartphones. It has successfully resolved electrical and operational challenges associated with traditional transmission lines during high-speed data transfer, leading to successful proof-of-concept (PoC) tests with its clients. Some clients have already requested mass production supplies.
This recent fundraising will allow Uniqconn to focus on mass production and commercialization to meet client demands.
Youngdong Kim, CEO of Uniqconn, commented, “This investment is a testament to the market’s recognition of our technological prowess and the hard work of our team, who have extensive experience in successful mass production. Alongside our strategic investors, we are committed to enhancing our global competitiveness and continuing to develop solutions that address the diverse challenges faced by our clients.”
