SNAPTAG Secures Series B Funding to Advance Invisible Watermark Technology

SNAPTAG, a Korean startup specializing in invisible watermark technology, has secured Series B funding. Investors including Kiwoom Investment, Kakao Investment, and Stonebridge Ventures participated in this round, bringing the total accumulated investment to over 10 billion KRW.

SNAPTAG’s technology uses invisible watermarks to apply and detect data on various content types. The company holds patents both domestically and internationally and offers solutions in information security, generative AI image authentication, and IP authentication, leveraging this core technology.

SNAPTAG’s “information security” solution embeds invisible watermarks containing user information into screens and printouts. This enables the identification of the leaker if the content is photographed and leaked. Offered as the LabGuard series, it can be applied to mobile screens, PC screens, web screens, files, and printouts. The LabGuard series not only addresses security issues related to post-photography leaks but also provides an SDK (Software Development Kit) module for easy implementation across various industries and regions, ensuring high scalability.

The “generative AI image authentication” solution automatically applies invisible watermarks to AI-generated images, allowing for accurate identification and detailed information verification. Unlike other AI watermarks that rely on probabilistic analysis, SNAPTAG’s solution provides precise information. The company is involved in government discussions to refine related regulations, such as the ‘Legislation Office Meeting’ and the ‘AI High-Level Strategic Dialogue.’ If watermarking becomes mandatory in the AI market, SnapTag’s invisible watermark technology is poised for global adoption.

The “IP authentication” solution applies invisible watermarks to product packaging that requires authenticity verification. Consumers can scan the watermarks with a smartphone to check detailed product information and authenticity. This service can be applied to various industries, including food, distribution, and sports, providing diverse online experiences beyond simple product information verification.

SNAPTAG has also launched a sports photocard platform that connects offline and online experiences. By leveraging its core invisible watermark technology, SNAPTAG is expanding its application across various businesses, aiming to establish a new standard for fourth-generation codes, surpassing barcodes and QR codes.

With the Series B funding, SNAPTAG plans to enhance its invisible watermark technology, expand its global business, and strengthen its research and development capabilities by actively recruiting top talent.
