WEFLO Secures KRW 2.5 Billion in Pre-Series A Bridge Funding for Future Mobility AI

WEFLO, a Korean company specializing in AI for future mobility, has successfully closed a Pre-Series A Bridge funding round, raising KRW 2.5 billion (approximately USD 1.9 million). New investor Stonebridge Ventures joined the round, alongside existing investors Lotte Ventures and IBK.

Last July, WEFLO secured KRW 3 billion (approximately USD 2.3 million) through its initial Pre-Series A funding, bringing its total investments to KRW 6.3 billion (approximately USD 4.8 million) within two and a half years of its founding. This latest investment will help WEFLO showcase its capabilities in the Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) market and facilitate subsequent investments from entities like KITIA and Scale Up Tips.

Initially an internal venture of Hanwha Systems in April 2022, WEFLO was independently established by CEO Eui-Jeong Kim with a team of experts from the defense and mobility industries. The company develops sensor fusion and AI technologies capable of non-invasive inspections of future mobility vehicles—such as drones, air taxis, and electric vehicles—within 10 seconds, while also building a systematic database.

In 2023, under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport’s ‘Drone Delivery Demonstration Project,’ Weflo installed ‘verti-Pit’ at 15 locations nationwide. This setup enables unmanned inspections using sensors and AI. This year, the company plans to expand its infrastructure, including a ‘drone delivery center’ that can inspect, control, and dispatch drone logistics. Leveraging its domestic commercialization successes and infrastructure projects, WEFLO is accelerating its international expansion by joining the AAM working group of the U.S. state of Georgia and NASA, and participating in the ‘2024 EAA Air Venture Oshkosh’.

Seonjae Park, a team leader at Stonebridge Ventures, said, “At a time when establishing a systematic, new safety system for future mobility is crucial, Weflo’s technology fills a significant technological gap in diagnostics and inspections,” and lauded Weflo as a key player in building domestic drone delivery infrastructure. He highlighted the company’s leadership in market development and its promising prospects in the international AAM market.

Kim Eui-Jeong, CEO of WEFLO, commented, “Thanks to our wide-ranging domestic and international activities and business achievements, we’ve received ongoing investment from existing partners and attracted new funds from major VCs active in the future mobility market.” He added, “Aligned with the rapidly growing domestic AAM industry, expected to reach a market size of KRW 1 trillion by 2025, we aim to lead the market in airframe inspection and predictive maintenance using AI technology.”
