ISKRA Secures Substantial Funding from Coinbase Ventures, GSR and Planetarium Labs

ISKRA, a Korean Web3 blockchain game platform, has attracted strategic investments from global blockchain investment companies Coinbase Ventures and GSR, as well as Web3 game developer Planetarium Labs. ISKRA plans to use this investment to energize the ecosystem based on the BASE chain. Notably, the Base Ecosystem Fund, led by Coinbase Ventures, participated in this funding round.

This strategic investment is significant as it involves leading global Web3-based companies. Coinbase’s mainnet Base had previously selected ISKRA as a major Web3 partner in August of last year, continuing to collaborate with them to invigorate the BASE ecosystem for over a year. This latest investment further extends the collaboration between ISKRA and Base.

Moreover, GSR, the largest market maker in the cryptocurrency industry, plans to assist in securing a steady supply of active users and liquidity for the ISKRA community and the BASE ecosystem. In addition, Planetarium Labs, a Web3-based game developer focused on user-generated content, runs ‘Nine Chronicles,’ an open-source RPG game currently rated among the top 5 RPGs by DappRadar. Planetarium Labs aims to work with ISKRA to expand the IP-based community network in the future.

Founded in 2022, ISKRA operates a blockchain-based platform that supports everything from game launches to governance token sales. After securing seed investment valued at approximately KRW 52 billion (approximately USD 38.5 million), the company is expanding its Web3 gaming footprint globally. Last April, it attracted strategic investment from Animoca Brands, a blockchain investment company based in Hong Kong. Through this investment, ISKRA plans to focus on increasing the number of active users in its internal community and expanding the BASE-based ecosystem.

Kim Jae-seok, CEO of Planetarium Labs, stated, “We have been continuously monitoring ISKRA’s progress since its founding, and its steady advancement toward its goals, despite market fluctuations, prompted our investment. We have high expectations for expanding the BASE-based ecosystem with ISKRA and plan to continue our close cooperation based on the strong user bases and synergies of both companies.”

Lee Hong-gyu, CEO of ISKRA, commented, “Following the investment from Animoca Brands last April, the assembly of Web3 ‘key players’ from various countries for this strategic investment in ISKRA is momentous.” He added, “Based on this strategic investment, we are poised to rejuvenate the ISKRA ecosystem and evolve as a comprehensive Web3 gaming platform.”
