South Korea-based global video chat service Episoden has secured 4.5 billion KRW (approximately 3.4 million USD) in Series A funding.
Coupang led the investment round, with Xquared joining as a new investor. Existing shareholders, including Primer Sazze Partners, also participated in the follow-up funding.
Episoden allows users to connect via web or Android app and have real-time video conversations in English with people from around the world in under two minutes.
Now available in 165 countries, Episoden has been praised for overcoming the limitations of traditional video English conversation services, which typically only allow users to converse with tutors. The service has rapidly gained popularity through influencers on platforms like TikTok and Instagram.
Yang Hyun-mo, CEO of Episoden, stated, “As our service unites users from various countries with a shared interest in English conversation, we will continue to leverage the latest technologies to expand globally.”
Since its launch, Episoden has maintained a strong growth trajectory, securing its first investment from Primer Sazze Partners in July 2022.
