DY ENG Secures Additional $1.3 Million to Pioneer Advanced Battery Recycling

DY ENG, a South Korea-based startup specializing in battery recycling, has received an additional investment of KRW 1.7 billion from EcoPro Partners and KH Venture Partners, bringing its total funding to over KRW 3.5 billion.

DY ENG manufactures equipment that recycles waste batteries and scrap to extract high-purity black mass, which includes valuable metals such as lithium, nickel, and cobalt. The company is rapidly expanding within the battery recycling sector.

DY ENG has innovated beyond traditional cell-level recycling processes by developing a new model capable of handling modules, which reduces carbon emissions. This breakthrough has improved working conditions and significantly shortened processing times. Furthermore, the company has introduced an energy-efficient process that operates at low temperatures, creating a more stable and effective system for recovering black mass. This technology is in line with green energy policies and is poised to play a crucial role in the growth of the battery recycling market.

CEO Dong-yeop Shin of DY ENG stated, “Our new carbon-reduction equipment model will allow us to focus on markets in Europe and the U.S., where there is a strong emphasis on environmental policies. We are committed to continuing the development of technologies tailored to different battery types and incorporating eco-friendly practices like electrolyte recovery systems, strengthening our leadership in the battery recycling equipment industry.”
