Makeworks Secures CNTTech Investment to Digitally Transform Camping Infrastructure

Makeworks Communication (Makeworks), a Korean company specializing in camping infrastructure development and the digital transformation of the camping market, has secured additional investment from CNTTech. Unlike traditional travel companies focused solely on online services, Makeworks bridges online solutions with offline infrastructure.

Makeworks’ flagship product, Camping Life, integrates online and offline infrastructure to provide comprehensive camping travel solutions. The company offers consulting services to transform underutilized real estate into camping car parking lots and campgrounds, utilizing small data analytics. Its IoT technology supports campground management, safety monitoring, and the integrated operation of camping facilities. With a growing influx of international campers, Makeworks is driving campsite digitalization and promoting a modern K-camping culture.

Since its founding in 2019, Makeworks has developed 205 camping car parking lots nationwide, accounting for 5% of the country’s total camping vehicle demand. The company provides high-value management solutions for camping cars, including history tracking, car washing, maintenance, and electric charging, establishing an integrated service ecosystem for camping vehicles.

Through its SaaS-based platform, Gadget, Makeworks has digitized 4,725 campsites in Korea, enhancing profitability and operational efficiency with IoT monitoring and safety management solutions. These advancements significantly improve campsite value compared to traditional operation methods.

In collaboration with Yanolja Cloud Partners, Makeworks is working on a project to develop branded camping sites, targeting both new and existing locations, while also planning to expand the K-camping culture globally. Last September, the company partnered with organizations in Gangwon-do to introduce Route 7 Gangwon Pass, a generative AI-based local tourism service. This initiative was showcased at the 2024 Gangwon Tourism Contents Festival, attracting over 2,000 visitors and participation from 40 local companies and 50 tourism organizations.

Hyunwoo Jeong, CEO of Makeworks, stated, “With experience in transforming over 250 underutilized properties into camping infrastructure, we aim to develop essential camping spaces and offer digital management solutions that benefit both operators and users. Our goal is to create a one-stop ecosystem for camping trips, enriched with diverse, locally tailored content that meets the needs of all stakeholders.”
