CLO Virtual Fashion Raises $36M to Revolutionize the Digital Apparel Industry
CLO Virtual Fashion, a South Korea-based leader in digital apparel solutions, has secured KRW 50 billion (approximately USD 36.1 million) in funding from Atinum Investment and IMM Investment.
Founded in 2009, CLO Virtual Fashion specializes in 3D garment simulation algorithms, providing tools that allow for the design, management, and collaboration of digital apparel. Its flagship products include ‘CLO’ and ‘Marvelous Designer’ for 3D garment design, alongside ‘CLO-SET’ for integrating garment data management, sharing, communication, and production, and ‘CONNECT’, a platform for trading and managing portfolios of 3D digital fashion assets.
CLO has garnered a substantial international market share, notably with fashion giants such as Hugo Boss, Nike, Arc’teryx, H&M, Levi’s, Decathlon, and Mango, through the adoption of its digital workflow solutions. Additionally, its technology is widely used in the film and CG industries. In recognition of its technological innovation, CLO received the prestigious Scientific and Technical Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in the United States in February, becoming the first Korean company to do so.
The new investment will be used to enhance CLO’s ecosystem, which connects all aspects of apparel creation from ideation to consumption in a seamless integration, improving user experience and attracting new users.
Atinum Investment’s Vice President, Kim Je Wook, who led the investment, stated, “CLO Virtual Fashion is a formidable competitor in the global 3D apparel design market, rapidly growing through its leadership in introducing 3D technology to the fashion sector. Their comprehensive, user-centered solutions cover the entire apparel production process, affirming their potential to solidify a leading position in the burgeoning global digital fashion market.”
CEO Bu JungHyeok of CLO Virtual Fashion expressed his enthusiasm about the investment, saying, “Thanks to our advanced technology and the deep trust we’ve established with our long-time customers, we have become an industry leader. This funding is a crucial step towards advancing CLO’s vision to encompass ‘the beginning and end of all apparel creation.’”
