Ecoremix Secures Seed Funding to Advance Sustainable Concrete and Recycling Technologies

Ecoremix, a South Korean company specializing in sustainable concrete solutions, announced on the 26th that it has secured both strategic (SI) and financial (FI) investments at the seed stage. While the investment amount was not disclosed, Plan.H Ventures, the corporate venture capital (CVC) arm of Hoban Construction, participated as the SI investor, and Stonebridge Ventures joined as the FI investor.

Ecoremix develops secondary concrete products using resource circulation optimization technology and offers a deep learning vision-based solution for sorting impurities from recycled aggregates. The company’s mission is to maximize the recycling of construction waste and produce safe, eco-friendly materials for the future.

Currently, construction waste is processed into recycled aggregates and recycled soil by intermediary treatment companies. However, quality inconsistencies have hindered its practical reuse in concrete applications. Additionally, the cost of handling unrecycled soil remains a financial burden on both the construction waste and broader construction industries.

Ecoremix addresses these challenges by manufacturing Eco-Remixed Concrete, an environmentally friendly secondary concrete product, through the application of response surface methodology and microbiology-based soil hardening technology. This innovative approach maximizes the substitution rate of recycled soil while achieving compressive strength comparable to that of products made from natural aggregates. These products are used in a variety of applications, including paving blocks, revetment blocks, and drainage pipes.

The company also employs deep learning vision technology to significantly improve the efficiency of sorting impurities from recycled aggregates, enabling the production of high-quality recycled materials. By eliminating fine impurities that conventional processes fail to detect, Ecoremix resolves the core issue of quality variability in recycled aggregates, positioning them as viable substitutes for natural aggregates.

Ecoremix CEO Hojae Song stated, “This funding allows us to enhance our AI-driven services and strengthen partnerships with construction companies. With our advanced technology, Ecoremix aims to lead the sustainable construction materials market.”
