Hummingbirds Secures Seed Funding for Babywhale, Revolutionizing Business Communication

Hummingbirds, the operator of the enterprise communication SaaS platform Babywhale, has secured seed funding from Primer.

Babywhale is a communication solution designed to enhance organizational culture through features like recognition and celebration. Its main customers include companies in commerce and platform industries, where frequent customer interaction and quick feedback are crucial. The platform has been well-received for its ability to naturally boost employee engagement through automated tools for organizational culture, such as profile cards and random connect features. Babywhale operates on Slack and counts companies like SentBe, Rapportlabs, Barogo, and Gangnamunni among its key clients.

CEO Siwon Yoo identified a business opportunity in the HR industry while working as a developer, recognizing that the high turnover rates among Millennials and Gen Z were driving discussions about organizational culture. Together with Jiwoo Jung, a longtime colleague and developer, Yoo founded Hummingbirds to address communication challenges within organizations.

Recently, Hummingbirds launched BulkSend, a one-click announcement and reminder tool that was adopted by over 30 companies within a week of its release. This tool is part of the company’s broader effort to tackle inefficiencies in business communication.

Since its launch, Babywhale has shown impressive growth, with monthly recurring revenue increasing by over 20% month-over-month. The platform also won the Grand Prize in the Challenge Track at the 2024 Chung Ju-young Startup Competition hosted by the Asan Nanum Foundation.

Siwon Yoo, CEO of Hummingbirds, commented, “We are committed to improving inefficiencies not only in internal communication but also in external interactions. Our goal is to create an efficient business communication structure powered by software and to lead the global market in this space.”
