WAND, a South Korean company specializing in AI-powered patent search and analysis, announced on the 7th that it has secured seed funding from Springcamp and has been selected for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) technology startup support program, TIPS.

WAND’s proprietary Patsol service provides an all-in-one patent solution, covering patent searches, specification drafting, and patent analysis. Patsol features an AI-driven search function that quickly identifies similar patents without requiring complex search queries, an AI-assisted drafting tool that streamlines the specification writing process, and a comprehensive analysis service that offers deep insights into patent portfolios and technological competitiveness. These capabilities help professionals and businesses maximize efficiency in patent-related tasks and make more strategic decisions.
CEO Sangho Han, who holds a bachelor’s degree from Seoul National University and a master’s degree from Yonsei University, founded WAND to simplify the complexities of patent work and enhance efficiency. Drawing from his experience as a patent examiner and as head of patent search engine development and management at the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO), he saw firsthand the challenges in the industry and sought to create a more effective solution.
“In my time at KIPO, I experienced the deep-rooted challenges and limitations of the patent industry firsthand. To address these issues, I leveraged AI technology to develop an innovative solution,” said Han.
Founded in October 2024, WAND secured seed funding from Springcamp within just a month and was selected for TIPS in December. Despite being in its early stages, the company is already attracting attention for its unique technology and rapid growth.
“WAND stands out as a startup that combines AI with patent search in a unique way, demonstrating strong market potential,” said Kyeongpyo Ko, Director at Springcamp. “It has the capability to make a significant impact not only in Korea but also in the global market.”
Han added, “Being selected for TIPS is a major milestone that validates WAND’s technology and potential. We will continue to provide greater value to patent professionals and businesses while establishing AI-driven patent solutions as the global standard.”
