AI-based autonomous driving startup from Korea, whereable.ai, has announced that it has secured seed funding. The amount of the investment remains undisclosed. This round, which is the company’s first since its founding in January 2024, was led by Quad Ventures with participation from Naver D2SF and POSTECH Holdings.

whereable.ai is developing an AI-driven autonomous driving solution that uses self-supervised learning to recognize real-time road environments and autonomously adapt to changes. This solution processes data directly on the device, not in the cloud, allowing for flexible adjustments to driving areas and routes based on customer needs. It features a plug-and-play system, enabling immediate driving without the need for infrastructure like high-precision maps.
The team at whereable.ai consists of co-founders from Korea’s first-generation autonomous driving startup, ThorDrive, bringing with them full-stack autonomous driving technology and commercialization experience from both Korea and the US. Leveraging this experience, whereable.ai formed a consortium just four months after its inception with HYMOBILITY and ATEC Mobility to win a contract for deploying autonomous vehicles (AM) at Incheon International Airport’s Terminal 2 departure area. Currently, ten indoor autonomous vehicles are being test-driven at the airport for passenger transport, with plans to commence official operations by the first half of 2025.
Recently, international airports and airlines have been increasingly demanding indoor autonomous solutions to enhance passenger mobility and provide smart experiences. whereable.ai is targeting international airports first, with plans to expand into indoor and outdoor autonomous driving for large shopping malls, resorts, golf courses, campuses, and industrial facilities.
Sang-Hwan Yang, Director at Naver D2SF, stated, “As autonomous driving technology expands into various spaces and industries, the flexibility and scalability of technology become more critical. whereable.ai, with its excellent technical prowess and rich field experience, is expected to quickly capture the market for indoor and low-speed vehicle (LSV) driving.”
