Omnicoat Secures Pre-Series A Funding to Advance Dry Laser Printing Technology
Omnicoat, a company specializing in high-value-added products using dry laser printing technology on metal surfaces, has secured a pre-Series A investment with participation from POSTECH Holdings.

Founded as an in-house venture of POSCO, Omnicoat was established by CEO Park Soon-hong, who holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science from Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) and has over 22 years of experience at RIST and POSCO. The company develops dry laser printing technology for metal surfaces, which is used in high-end colored steel sheets for premium home appliances and interior and exterior building materials that enhance architectural value.
While colored steel sheets are widely used across various industries, existing liquid printing methods present several challenges, such as ink droplet beading on metal surfaces, nozzle clogging due to high binder content, and discoloration over time. Additionally, liquid printing requires large amounts of solvents, which reduce printing precision and lead to time losses due to drying. To overcome these issues, Omnicoat has developed a dry printing method using metal materials and solid powder toner instead of liquid-based printing.
Jae-hyun Kim, an analyst at POSTECH Holdings, stated, “Omnicoat’s technology has broad applications in the colored steel sheet industry, and it has already undergone significant technical validation, including the establishment of a semi-mass production line at POSCO Steelon. More importantly, Omnicoat’s technology is not limited to steel printing; ongoing research is exploring its use in dry electrode technology for secondary batteries and coatings for nuclear waste transport containers, demonstrating its potential for diverse applications.”
Omnicoat CEO Park Soon-hong commented, “This investment from POSTECH Holdings will help us expand beyond our initial focus on colored steel sheets to new areas, including nuclear transport containers and dry electrode technology for secondary batteries.”
Meanwhile, Omnicoat recently conducted an interview with Wowtale and participated in the WOW IR Day investment demo event.
