LYNK SOLUTEC Secures $1.1M Pre-Series A to Advance Surface Coating Tech for medical devices
LYNK SOLUTEC, a South Korea-based startup specializing in surface coatings for medical devices, has secured approximately USD 1.1 million(KRW 1.5 billion) in a Pre-Series A funding round. The investment was jointly led by POSTECH Holdings and the Korea Technology Finance Corporation (KIBO).
LYNK SOLUTEC is developing a proprietary non-stick nano-thin film coating technology aimed at reducing infections, inflammation, and thrombosis commonly associated with implantable medical devices. The advanced coating prevents the adhesion of proteins, immune cells, and bacteria on the device surface, while ensuring long-term stability and performance post-implantation.
The company’s coating technology can be applied across a wide range of devices, including endoscopes, ureteral stents, catheters, and ophthalmic silicone tubes. Its advantages include ease of application compared to conventional methods and superior durability. A notable achievement includes the company’s endoscope-compatible product, which won Innovation Awards in both the ‘Human Security’ and ‘Digital Health’ categories at CES 2024, underscoring its global competitiveness.
A spin-off from Yonsei University’s Biointerface & Sensor Systems Laboratory, LYNK SOLUTEC is actively collaborating with multiple hospitals and medical device manufacturers on joint research and commercialization projects. The company is beginning with first-grade endoscopic accessories and is expanding into ophthalmology and urology-related devices. Simultaneously, it is pursuing U.S. FDA approvals and forging partnerships for market entry into the Middle East.
In February, LYNK SOLUTEC launched Clean View, an anti-fog coating solution for endoscopic lenses. The product helps maintain clear vision by preventing fogging and the adhesion of biological substances such as blood.
With the new funding, LYNK SOLUTEC plans to scale mass production and sales of its endoscopic coating products while accelerating global regulatory strategies and diversifying its product portfolio.
