WaveShineTech Secures Seed Funding to Revolutionize Wireless Connectivity with RIS

WaveShineTech, a South Korean startup developing next-generation wireless communication relay technology known as Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS), has secured seed funding. Korea Investment Accelerator participated solely in this round. With the investment, WaveShineTech plans to prioritize the recruitment of key personnel and accelerate the advancement of its product and preparations for global expansion.

The company is developing a battery-powered, ultra-low-power RIS solution that addresses the challenge of communication blind spots without relying on conventional wired or high-power relay infrastructure. Its tile-type modular structure allows for flexible scalability, enabling deployment across diverse environments including outdoor and underground spaces, inside buildings, remote islands, as well as satellite and drone communications.

In today’s AI-driven era, many businesses liken artificial intelligence to a car and data centers to fueling stations, leading to increased investment in AI infrastructure. However, the “road” — wireless connectivity infrastructure essential to operate such AI systems — often receives less attention. WaveShineTech positions itself as the missing piece in this ecosystem, providing the real-time connectivity that bridges AI and data.

WaveShineTech has already demonstrated its technological capabilities through PoC (Proof of Concept) collaborations with leading telecom and electronics companies such as KT and LG Electronics. The company is currently focused on product refinement for mass production and commercialization, while also pushing forward with plans to enter the Japanese and U.S. markets.

The newly raised capital will be strategically utilized for recruiting top talent, filing domestic and international intellectual property rights, establishing mass production infrastructure, participating in global exhibitions such as CES 2026, and producing promotional content.

A representative from Korea Investment Accelerator remarked, “WaveShineTech has the technological strengths — low power consumption, modular architecture, and high-frequency compatibility — to address real infrastructure gaps in the global telecommunications market. As AI-based industries rapidly expand, their solution is fundamental in providing the wireless connectivity backbone required.”

Co-CEOs Seongeun Kim and Byungwook Min stated, “This investment will not only enhance the completeness of our technology but also boost our scalability and partnership opportunities in global markets. We are committed to becoming the critical communication infrastructure provider that connects an AI-centric society.”
