Backpackr Invests $3.4M in BetterwaySystems to Strengthen Creator Commerce Ecosystem

Backpackr, the company operating Idus, Korea’s largest handmade commerce platform, has invested approximately USD 3.4 million(KRW 4.7 billion) in BetterwaySystems, a Korean startup specializing in on-demand digital printing and customized merchandise production.

The investment includes both new and existing shares of BetterwaySystems. Earlier this year, the startup had already raised about USD 2.9 million(KRW 4 billion) from Gravity Private Equity, and this new strategic investment further strengthens its growth capital.

BetterwaySystems, which operates the Red Printing & Press platform, offers customizable designs across more than 380 product types, ranging from traditional printed materials like business cards, promotional flyers, and stickers, to apparel, accessories, and lifestyle goods. The company has developed a flexible manufacturing system optimized for multi-variety, small-lot production.

Through this investment, Backpackr aims to vertically integrate its commerce value chain, connecting production capabilities directly with creators on Idus, Tumblbug, and 10×10. The partnership with Red Printing allows creators to produce goods without MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity) constraints, while also building a customizable post-production infrastructure that covers order management, manufacturing, packaging, and delivery.

Backpackr plans to offer creators a suite of production support services, including  discounted manufacturing costs, dedicated operational support and expanded options for private label (PB) product creation

Yang Pyung, CEO of BetterwaySystems, commented, “This strategic investment from Backpackr validates our capabilities in print-on-demand (POD) technologies and infrastructure. We’ll work to ensure creators can naturally and seamlessly use POD services within Backpackr’s ecosystem.”

Donghwan Kim, CEO of Backpackr, stated, “This investment is not just about outsourcing production—it’s about embedding on-demand production infrastructure directly into the creator ecosystem. We will continue to take an active role in operations to help creators on Idus, Tumblbug, and 10×10 efficiently meet the common demand for multi-SKU, small-batch production.”
