South Korean precision positioning technology startup Intospace has secured Pre-Series A funding from Bluepoint Partners. Intospace has developed a “seamless navigation system” that provides uninterrupted, high-precision location information across environments ranging from ground level to underground and even outer space. This system is based on the company’s proprietary GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) simulator technology, which enables the direct design, generation, and control of satellite signals. This unique capability allows for the testing and validation of precise positioning technology in various environments without the need for actual satellites, ensuring stable location data provision.
As mobility paradigms shift with the rise of autonomous vehicles and urban air mobility (UAM), the importance of precision positioning is growing. Intospace has built a technology ecosystem that includes real-time GNSS correction, correction in tunnels and underground shadow zones, and NewSpace simulators, thereby securing a sustainable revenue model.
Recently, Intospace successfully completed a performance evaluation by the Korea Transportation Safety Authority for its Tunnel Navigation System (TNS), which enables the use of GPS signals even in tunnels and underground roads.
Bluepoint Partners highlighted the company’s technological capabilities and the expertise of its founding team. As the second laboratory spin-off from the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI), Intospace was founded by two of the industry’s top experts with decades of experience in the field.
In particular, the company is recognized for possessing the rare capability to not only receive GNSS signals but also directly generate and replicate high-precision signals. With its strengths starting at the top of the technology stack, Intospace’s solutions have broad applicability across both private and public markets, including autonomous driving, drones, and defense.
Ahn Hwi-jae, Principal Investment Officer at Bluepoint Partners, noted, “The founders were the lead practitioners in designing this technology for government agencies. They are in the best position to lead the transfer and commercialization of government infrastructure technology into the private sector.”
Co-CEO Nam Ki-wook of Intospace stated, “We have not merely developed precision positioning technology, but have built a proprietary technical architecture that integrates fragmented technologies into a single platform. We aim to drive structural innovation in the precision positioning market and grow into a global platform.”
