Mentree Secures Investment from Jiran Japan to Support Global Expansion

Mentree, a Korean company specializing in supporting businesses expanding overseas, announced that it has attracted strategic investment from Jiran Japan. The investment amount was not disclosed. This investment is not just about financial support; it signifies a partnership aimed at building a more robust support system for startups and companies looking to enter the Japanese market.

Jiran Japan operates ‘Japan to Global,’ a community supporting Korean startups hoping to enter Japan, and conducts study sessions and networking activities for startups. Through this collaboration, Mentree plans to provide practical execution capabilities and experience to companies looking to establish themselves in the Japanese market.

Mentree assists individuals and companies embarking on new challenges abroad in settling down stably in local markets. It boasts a global mentor network of over 128 mentors across more than 15 countries, with over half having more than 10 years of experience in their respective fields. Mentors are active in various industries such as IT, manufacturing, finance, and service, working as marketers, engineers, designers, and lawyers. Mentree provides services that enable companies to enter and settle in local markets with these mentors.

Key services include online mentoring (career mentoring), business mentoring (1:N mentoring where multiple mentors provide diverse perspectives to a single company, 1:1 mentoring for close guidance with a suitable mentor, and relay mentoring where guidance is received from multiple mentors in sequence), seminars (career seminars, business seminars), and ‘Mentree Booster,’ a practical program designed to help companies achieve initial market stabilization.

In particular, Mentree launched ‘Mentree Booster’ in April, a practical program to help companies achieve initial market stabilization. Senior experts who have directly achieved results locally participate, providing practical support in Go-to-Market strategies, initial test marketing, service growth hacking, sales, and organizational operations, rather than just advisories. Mentree Booster offers distinct advantages to Japanese-bound companies struggling with problem definition and decision-making due to difficulties in securing senior talent, including ‘time and cost savings,’ ‘practice-oriented execution,’ and ‘operations encompassing marketing, sales, and organization.’

“Local experts with over 10 years of experience lead projects with optimized teams, reducing trial and error and allowing focus on core tasks,” said Sang-A Lee, CEO of Mentree. “We help companies successfully settle in the Japanese market based on quick decision-making and problem-solving abilities.”

She added, “This collaboration with Jiran Japan will provide practical growth opportunities for more companies hoping to enter the Japanese market. We will continue to be a strong partner for companies challenging the global market with various partners.”
