X-SENTRY Secures Seed Funding to Advance Sensor Solutions for Next-Generation SMR

South Korea-based startup X-SENTRY, which develops sensor solutions for next-generation Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), has secured seed investment from FuturePlay, Seoul Techno Holdings, and SolidX.

X-SENTRY is developing sensor technologies for SMR safety monitoring, capable of maintaining high accuracy and durability under extreme conditions. Its compact design minimizes the need for reactor design modifications, offering significant advantages for SMR deployment.

The research team, composed of experts from the Department of Nuclear Engineering at Seoul National University, has filed multiple related patents and participated in national research projects. Building on this foundation, X-SENTRY is advancing sensor technologies optimized for reliable operation in next-generation SMR environments.

With this investment, X-SENTRY plans to accelerate technology commercialization and market entry. The company will begin supplying products to domestic SMR research companies and institutions within this year and will also pursue validation through leading international research organizations. To secure early revenue, X-SENTRY will enter the glovebox oxygen and moisture sensor market as well.

Ahram Jeon, Principal at FuturePlay, who led the investment, commented, “The next-generation SMR market remains largely unexplored, with even upstream specifications yet to be finalized. This, however, presents a tremendous opportunity for new sensor startups. We expect X-SENTRY to first build revenue and references in extreme-condition industries and ultimately become the standard for sensors in next-generation non-light water SMRs.”

X-SENTRY CEO Geun-woo Ko stated, “XSENTRY aims to be the eyes and ears of next-generation SMRs, enabling humanity to enjoy safe and clean nuclear energy. With this investment, we will further enhance our technology and establish a foundation for global market expansion.”
