WiLCO Secures USD 3.8 Million Series A Investment, Recognized for Defense, Automotive, and AI Material Technology
High-performance electronic material specialist WiLCO Inc has secured a USD 3,846,154 (KRW 5 billion) Series A investment. Four major domestic venture capital firms, including Comes Investment, Albatross Investment, Company K Partners, and Mirae Asset Venture Investment, participated in this investment round.
The investors highly praised WiLCO’s technology in high-thermal dissipation, low-dielectric copper clad laminates (CCL), and electric vehicle battery insulation materials, noting their potential as core materials in next-generation industries such as defense, automotive, and AI computing. The commercialization potential of the technology was also proven through concrete proof-of-concept (PoC) and mass production preparations with global clients like Hanwha Systems, LG Group, and Continental AG.
With this investment, WiLCO plans to establish a mass production line for its high-thermal dissipation, low-dielectric composite materials (MARU-Series) and expand certifications for insulation materials used in defense and electric vehicle automotive applications. The company will also focus on investing in R&D and enhancing its quality system to better serve overseas clients.
CEO Sangwon Park stated, “This investment signifies that WiLCO’s material technology has been recognized for its practical competitiveness in the market. We aim to become a key material company in the global defense, automotive, and AI semiconductor sectors, extending beyond Korea.”
Established in 2021, WiLCO possesses proprietary technology in low-dielectric and high-thermal conductive copper clad laminates (Low-K & High-Thermal Conductive CCL). The company has developed the ‘NURI, MARU, IEUM-Series’ product lines, applicable to antennas, AESA radars, and HPC/GPU modules, and is currently conducting technical verification with leading domestic and international companies.
