Mooncademy Secures Series A Bridge Investment to Enter Global Sports Tourism Market
Mooncademy, a Korean startup operating the running-based sports travel platform ‘cl.too,’ has attracted Series A bridge investment from Hana Tour. This investment marks Hana Tour’s first-ever investment in a travel startup since its founding, with both companies planning to advance full-scale entry into the $571B USD (800 trillion KRW) global sports tourism market through strategic partnership.

‘cl.too’ is an experiential sports travel platform combining running and travel, performing end-to-end processes from planning to operation, guidance, and technology across run-tour products combining domestic and international marathon participation with travel, running events hosted by public institutions and brands plus self-organized events, and B2B travel services (BTMS) for companies. Additionally, by securing official ITP qualification for the ‘Sydney Marathon,’ one of the world’s seven major marathons, and holding exclusive domestic supply rights for the ‘Paris Marathon,’ the platform enables runners to enjoy stable and differentiated overseas marathon participation and travel experiences.
Following selection for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ TIPS program, Mooncademy has been consecutively selected for the Korea Tourism Organization’s Global Challenge project and Gapyeong region’s ‘BETTERY(里)’ project, attracting attention as a tourism venture company recognized for growth potential and innovation. Additionally, operating an Instagram-based running specialized media channel with 70,000 runners, the company is positioning itself as a central platform for Korea’s running community.
Through this investment, cl.too plans to combine Hana Tour’s global infrastructure (aviation, hotels, local tours) with its own run-tour operation know-how and running community content capabilities to pursue joint run-tour product planning and sales, B2B partnership expansion, and content/community advancement.
Moon Hyun-woo, Co-CEO of Mooncademy, stated, “Sports tourism combining running and travel is a next-generation theme travel sector attracting global attention. With this strategic investment as an opportunity, we will showcase differentiated run-tour experiences in the global market together with Hana Tour and grow into Korea’s representative sports travel platform.”
Mooncademy achieved its first operating profit in 2024 with 150% year-over-year growth, reached 70,000 SNS followers, and aims to leap forward as a global sports tourism platform through domestic and international run-tour category expansion in 2025 and inbound run-tour market entry in 2026.
Meanwhile, Mooncademy was selected as a resident company of Seoul Tourism Plaza, supervised by Seoul Tourism Foundation and operated by CNTTech.
