Drone and Satellite Spatial Analysis AI Startup Meissa Secures $6.8M Pre-IPO Funding

Korean drone and satellite spatial analysis AI startup Meissa has completed a $6.8 million (10 billion KRW) pre-IPO funding round. With this latest investment, Meissa’s total cumulative funding now reaches approximately $23.9 million (35 billion KRW). The company is targeting an IPO in the second half of 2026.

The pre-IPO round attracted multiple new investors including the LIG Nex1IBK Capital Defense Innovation Fund, GVA Asset Management, NH Hedge Asset Management, Painters & Ventures, Vision Equity Partners, Triangle Partners, and ID Ventures. Existing shareholder GnTech Venture Investment also participated, alongside Kiwoom Securities, which is serving as the IPO underwriter and joined as a direct investor.

The participation of the IPO underwriter as an investor is seen as a strong signal of market confidence in Meissa‘s business model and growth potential. Following existing major shareholder Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI), LIG Nex1’s investment means Meissa has now secured backing from two of Korea’s “Big Four” defense companies. The involvement of venture capital firms, securities companies, and asset management firms as shareholders has further heightened expectations for the upcoming IPO.

Meissa operates an AI platform that collects and interprets multi-source spatial data from satellites and drones, transforming it into immediately actionable insights that drive decision-making. The company provides a platform that implements real-time AI analysis and automated response systems, moving beyond traditional spatial data utilization methods that relied on manual work and post-hoc analysis.

Unusually for the spatial information industry, Meissa has built a broad enterprise customer network based on its SaaS products. Leading Korean construction companies including DL E&C, HDC Hyundai Development Company, and Lotte Engineering & Construction use the Meissa platform daily at construction sites nationwide. Drawing on its experience in the highly complex-to-digitize construction industry, Meissa has established a technology foundation applicable across both private and public sectors. The company has been diversifying its business portfolio by expanding use cases into defense and space sectors in collaboration with KAI.

Seok-won Choi, CEO of Meissa, commented, “This pre-IPO investment validates the scalability of the spatial analysis AI platform we’ve built. We will evolve into a company with a long-term growth structure through technology infrastructure advancement and expansion into new application areas.”
