Crit Ventures USA Backs Web3 Fan Platform Meet48

Crit Ventures USA, the U.S. arm of Korean VC firm Crit Ventures, has invested in Meet48, a Web3 platform reimagining how fans interact with idols. The investment size remains undisclosed.

Meet48 combines blockchain and AI to let fans do more than just watch—they can create virtual idols, manage their careers, and participate in everything from performances to broadcasts. It’s a decentralized take on fandom that puts fans in the driver’s seat.

Traditional idol management concentrates power in entertainment agencies, leaving fans as passive consumers. Meet48 flips this model by giving users actual stakes in their idols’ success. Through NFT merchandise and voting rights, fans gain exclusive ownership and influence over an idol’s trajectory while earning rewards for their engagement.

What caught Crit Ventures’ attention was Meet48’s track record—11 years managing idol groups in China and a thriving community that’s generated over 24,000 pieces of fan content.

The fresh funding will fuel Meet48’s expansion across Southeast Asia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Japan, bringing popular regional idol groups onto the platform. The company is also upgrading its virtual idol creation tools, planning hybrid concerts that blend real and virtual performers, and developing new gaming and metaverse experiences.

“This investment validates the potential of merging Web3 and AI in fan economies,” said Kai Xu, Meet48’s COO. “We’re building infrastructure for the next generation of entertainment—one where fans experience both real and virtual idols in completely new ways.”

Crit Ventures says it will continue backing promising ventures in the cultural content space.
