Clone Labs, a Korean AI startup developing technology that anticipates and acts on user decisions, has raised investment from Naver D2SF.

Clone Labs is building a “User Model” — an AI system that learns from a person’s computer usage patterns and workflow to predict and carry out the next action without requiring human input. Naver D2SF backed the team based on its potential to rapidly identify and tackle new problems emerging in the AI era.
As AI agents become more widely adopted, a new bottleneck has surfaced: the constant need for human oversight. The faster agents work, the more frequently users must step in to review results and provide feedback — creating what Clone Labs calls “agent management fatigue.” The startup’s User Model is designed to eliminate this friction by learning a user’s intent, context, and preferences, then making decisions autonomously on their behalf.
The User Model is built around three layers: Recording, which captures computer usage patterns; Memory, which accumulates and analyzes context and preferences during decision-making; and Prediction, which uses that data to anticipate and execute the next action. Tasks with high prediction confidence are handled automatically, while lower-confidence decisions are escalated to the user — a structure designed to balance automation quality with reliability. The company’s first products, Clone Desktop and Clone Plugin, target AI builders, the segment currently making the heaviest use of AI agents.
The Clone Labs team was formed by graduates of Seoul National University and has published seven research papers on AI agent topics in collaboration with Stanford University and Carnegie Mellon University. The team brings hands-on research experience in Computer-Use Agents (CUA), long-term memory, and privacy-preserving memory architecture — all core technologies underpinning the User Model.
Clone Labs was discovered through Naver D2SF’s campus tech startup competition in the second half of 2025 and began its incubation program in January 2026. The investment followed just three months later, driven by the team’s rapid progress in problem definition, hypothesis design, and product validation.
“As AI technology advances rapidly, new bottlenecks and market opportunities are emerging that weren’t visible before,” said Sanghwan Yang, Head of Naver D2SF. “Clone Labs quickly identified that the bottleneck between people and agents was limiting productivity, and the team is tackling it with deep research expertise and sharp focus. Naver D2SF will continue to actively discover and invest in founders who are the first to spot and experiment with the changes of the AI era, while expanding collaboration opportunities with Naver.”
