South Korea’s MID Raises $10.6M Series A to Localize High-Reliability Space Components and Build HTCC Ceramic Package Line
MID, a South Korean startup specializing in space-grade electronic components, announced on July 29, 2026 that it has raised approximately $10.6 million (KRW 15.7 billion) in a Series A funding round.

The round attracted participation from existing investors DSC Investment and Schmidt, alongside new backers including the Korea Development Bank, Medici Investment, IBK Capital, Korea Credit Guarantee Fund, POSCO INVESTMENT, and Pioneer Investment. The round brings MID’s cumulative funding to approximately $12 million (KRW 17.7 billion).
The investment was driven by surging demand for space components as the NewSpace era accelerates and recognition of MID’s competitive edge in high-reliability component technology. As satellite manufacturing scales globally, localizing trusted space-grade parts and establishing low-cost supply chains have become critical challenges. MID has supported South Korea’s space industry supply chain through its Coordinated Parts Procurement Agent (CPPA) platform—which combines space-component procurement and technical support—along with its product assurance consulting capabilities. The company has also built design, process development, and commercialization expertise in HTCC (high-temperature co-fired ceramic) packaging through its own pilot line.
MID plans to use the fresh capital to scale up its capabilities in space semiconductor packaging and ceramic package manufacturing. By November 2026, the company will establish a 66,000-square-foot advanced aerospace packaging production line at the Pyeongchon Industrial Complex in Daejeon and advance HTCC ceramic package mass-production processes and equipment. Leveraging its network of domestic and international space-component customers and product assurance know-how built through the CPPA business, MID aims to integrate component testing, procurement, manufacturing, and verification into a unified supply system. The company will also expand into commercial and defense sectors in stages, with plans to establish a production base for ceramic components used in semiconductor test equipment by 2029.
Founded in 2018, MID is South Korea’s first dedicated space-grade electronic component company. Its strengths include developing and manufacturing space-grade electronic, electrical, and electromechanical (EEE) parts; up-screening test technology for space-grade components; and product assurance consulting. Through its CPPA platform, MID provides integrated procurement and technical support to space customers both at home and abroad.
MID has posted steady growth since its inception. Revenue expanded more than sixfold, from approximately $1.3 million (KRW 1.9 billion) in 2021 to around $8.4 million (KRW 12.4 billion) in 2025. On the technology front, the company completed South Korea’s first domestic development of a high-reliability, hermetically sealed ceramic package space-grade memory module (16 Mbit SRAM), which flew aboard the KARI Nuri rocket’s fourth launch on the Ministry of Science and ICT’s Component and Device Verification Satellite No. 1. The technology was designated a “space innovation technology” by Korea’s new space agency, KASA. MID is currently developing a non-hermetic epoxy-molded 128 Gbit-and-higher NAND flash memory module for space applications. The company plans to add flight heritage by integrating the module into DaejeonSat-1, a nanosatellite scheduled to launch aboard the Nuri rocket’s fifth mission later this year.
“This Series A round is an important turning point as we evolve into a technology company with full capabilities in space semiconductor packaging and ceramic package manufacturing,” said Sung-geun Jeong, CEO of MID. “We will do everything we can to localize the high-reliability component supply chain that Korea’s space and aerospace industries need. The most urgent challenge in today’s space market is solving the high-cost component problem to lower satellite manufacturing costs. MID will play the role of supplying low-cost space components that can replace the expensive old-space parts.”
South Korea’s deep-tech Materials sector has drawn sustained investor interest over the past year. In June 2026, LABINCUBE secured approximately $9.9 million in Series B to scale its Metal-Organic Framework platform for advanced materials, while earlier the same month BLUEMagnet raised seed funding to deploy its radioactive waste treatment materials technology in nuclear plants worldwide. These rounds underscore growing momentum in advanced materials commercialization, driven by demand for localization and next-generation manufacturing solutions across energy, defense, and aerospace applications.
