Xylo Labs Raises $133K Seed Round to Prevent Industrial Equipment Failures with AI-Powered Predictive Maintenance

Xylo Labs, a South Korean AI-based predictive maintenance startup, announced on July 30 that it has secured a Seed investment of approximately $133,000 (KRW 200 million) from social impact investor MYSC.

Xylo Labs is developing “Xylo-Zero,” an AI-powered predictive maintenance solution that detects early signs of equipment failure by analyzing sound and vibration together with operational state data from industrial equipment. The platform moves away from reactive repair-after-breakdown approaches and instead identifies anomalous signals in advance, alerting operators when inspection or maintenance is needed.

Large-scale equipment used in ports, power plants, and manufacturing facilities can cause not only production delays but also serious safety hazards for workers when sudden failures occur. Currently, inspection relies primarily on manual worker checks or scheduled part replacements based on fixed intervals, which can miss anomalies between inspections or lead to inefficient replacement of still-functional components.

Xylo Labs’ core differentiator is that it analyzes not just sound and vibration in isolation but also the operating conditions of the equipment. When a port crane accelerates to lift a container or when high load is applied to machinery, sound and vibration naturally increase even under normal operation. Conventional solutions may misinterpret these changes as faults, but Xylo Labs distinguishes between normal operational variation and actual anomalies by analyzing operational parameters including on/off status, speed, and load alongside acoustic and vibration data.

The solution also employs on-device AI, processing data directly at industrial sites without routing through cloud servers. This approach eliminates the need to transmit large volumes of acoustic and vibration data externally, reducing communication costs and security concerns while ensuring stable operation even in environments with unreliable connectivity. The platform’s acoustic-sensor architecture allows a single device to monitor multiple pieces of nearby equipment, lowering installation and maintenance burdens.

Xylo Labs is validating its technology’s viability in industrial settings through pilot projects with major port and power operators including Busan Port Authority, Korea Southern Power, and Korea Midland Power. At Busan New Port, the system analyzes crane operating states and acoustic data to detect anomalies; at power stations, it identifies equipment needing inspection or replacement by analyzing sound from coal transport facilities. The company plans to expand into private-sector manufacturing, heavy industry, and shipping operations.

MYSC cited Xylo Labs’ ability to address false-positive detection, installation cost, and security challenges simultaneously through its expertise in acoustic and signal AI as a key investment rationale. The investor highlighted the solution’s potential to reduce social and economic costs associated with industrial accidents and equipment downtime by preventing failures and improving worker safety through early anomaly detection.

Xylo Labs has assembled a team of specialists in acoustic and signal AI, edge hardware, machine learning platforms, and business strategy to drive technology development and commercialization. The seed proceeds will be allocated to advancing AI technology and product refinement, expanding field pilots, and recruiting specialized talent. MYSC plans to support Xylo Labs’ entry into the private B2B market and future growth by connecting the startup with corporate and public-sector networks and open innovation programs.

South Korea’s Industrial IoT and manufacturing automation sectors have seen growing investor interest in 2026. In July, humanoid robotics maker Holiday Robotics raised a $103.4 million Series A, the largest round for a Korean humanoid robotics startup, to scale production systems. Earlier, physical AI manufacturing platform CarbonSix closed a $40 million Series A co-led by DSC Investment and LB Investment to bring AI-driven process automation to global factories.
