South Korean legal tech startup Nexus AI raises KRW 2 billion to disrupt the industry
Nexus AI, a South Korean legal tech startup developing legal AI based on LLM (Large Language Model), has raised KRW 2 billion in a seed round from Primer Sazze Partners and Hana Ventures.
Nexus AI is a company that is attracting attention for its CEO, Lee Jae-won, a serial entrepreneur who has successfully listed two companies in the telecommunications and digital advertising sectors. Lee co-founded Telcoware, a telecommunications software company, in 2000 and it was listed on the exchange in 2004. He also co-founded Incross in 2007 and it was listed on the KOSDAQ in 2016.
Nexus AI also includes Kang Min-wook, the CTO of Incross, who has been working with Lee for the past 8 years as a co-founder.
In June, Nexus AI signed a legal AI development agreement with DR & AJU LLC, one of the top 10 law firms in Korea. The company is also an AI Alliance partner of Naver’s “HyperClova X.” Nexus AI is pursuing major businesses such as a legal consulting service for the general public and a tool provision service for legal professionals.
Kim Seok-hyun, co-CEO of Primer Sazze, who led the investment, said, “Nexus AI will lead the next generation of innovation in the legal tech field.” He also expressed his expectation that the experience of the management team, who have successfully led two startups, will be a great help to the growth of Nexus AI.
Lee Jae-won, CEO of Nexus AI, said, “We plan to launch a legal consulting service for the general public by the end of this year using HyperClova X, the best LLM in Korea. Starting from early next year, we will provide services such as case search, summary and generation of legal documents, and prediction of rulings to lawyers and law firms in sequence.”
