Incera Solution Raises Seed Funds for High-Performance FSM Development
Incera Solution, a South Korean company specializing in the manufacture of high-performance Fast & Fine Steering Mirrors (FSMs), crucial devices for laser-based space optical communications and advanced defense systems, has secured KRW 300 million in seed funding from JB Ventures.
Recently, global satellite communication operators have been competing to launch low Earth orbit satellite communication services that utilize laser-based space optical communication technology. China recently announced its version of a Starlink plan, and South Korea has been ramping up national investments, with the Ministry of Science and ICT initiating a preliminary feasibility study last year for low Earth orbit satellite development, valued at KRW 800 billion.
Consequently, the market for high-performance FSMs, essential for laser-based optical communications via low Earth orbit satellite constellations, is experiencing rapid growth. Market analysis reports project the global FSM market to reach approximately KRW 23 trillion by 2030. Space-applicable FSMs require high levels of precision and accuracy, as well as significant shock resistance to withstand launch and operational conditions. Currently, only a few companies worldwide can meet these demanding product requirements.
Founded in 2023 as a deep-tech startup, Incera Solution has been responding to market demands by producing FSMs needed in the space and advanced defense sectors, leveraging its high technological capabilities. The company has completed the production of prototypes and is currently conducting performance tests.
Young-kwan Kwon, CEO of Incera Solution, stated, “With our expertise and strong execution capabilities, we are developing high-performance FSMs that meet the demanding requirements of the market. We plan to start with the domestic satellite and defense markets before expanding globally. We greatly appreciate any interest and support for Incera Solution, which is rapidly growing.”
In addition, Incera Solution was selected for the ‘IBK CHANGGONG Daejeon 5th Generation,’ a platform for nurturing innovation startups operated by the Industrial Bank of Korea (IBK).
