Workvisa Secures Pre-Seed Investment from MYSC to Enhance Job Matching for Foreigners
Workvisa, a startup developing a job matching platform for foreigners residing in Korea, has received pre-seed investment from Merry Year Social Company (MYSC). Founded in May of this year, Workvisa focuses on resolving work environment and visa issuance challenges for foreigners in Korea. The platform addresses prevalent labor issues at small and medium-sized foreign employment sites and is actively developing solutions to improve these conditions. Workvisa was also a participant in the 8th KT&G Sangsang Startup Camp Start Track, an accelerator program operated by MYSC.
Currently, Workvisa targets foreign students and graduates who are highly motivated to work. The company’s mission is to mitigate labor shortages in local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) by pairing them with well-educated foreign workers, with an overarching vision to enhance job infrastructure in anticipation of a future with 2 million foreigners in Korea. The platform offers services such as legal job searches, reputation inquiries, and administrative AI services to assist these workers in navigating their employment paths legally.
Looking ahead, Workvisa plans to refine its foreign job matching platform through the enhancement of administrative AI services and the development of reputation inquiry services. These improvements aim to address and resolve conflicts between foreign workers and SMEs, drawing from real field experiences. Additionally, the company is collaborating with various regional and metropolitan networks to attract workers and small business clients, aiming to quickly expand the number of successful matches and gather data to enhance their services further.
Lee Seo-kyung, a judge at MYSC, remarked, “The foreign worker market is an enormous opportunity for the future.” She added, “Beginning with this pre-seed investment in Workvisa, we are committed to making the businesses of innovators in the population tech market more meaningful and providing sustained support.”
Go Gyeong-woo, CEO of Workvisa, commented, “There’s a notable gap between the job information available online and the actual job opportunities for foreigners.” He further explained, “Through firsthand experience in the field, I’ve gained a deep understanding of this discrepancy. Based on this insight, we plan to foster a healthier job market for foreigners. This investment will enable us to offer more innovative services and build an ecosystem where both foreign workers and SMEs can coexist and prosper.”
