FutureScholé, a Korea-based knowledge business platform offering the ‘LiveKlass’ service, has raised 4 billion KRW in Series A funding from Murex Partners. This follows their previous Pre-Series A round of 2.5 billion KRW in 2022, bringing the company’s total funding to over 7 billion KRW.
LiveKlass enables anyone to turn their knowledge, experience, and expertise into monetizable content such as live lectures, videos, and e-books. With simple setup options, users can quickly launch their own website to sell a variety of content products, including courses.
LiveKlass sets itself apart with a seamless payment system and robust learner management features, allowing knowledge creators to start a business with ease thanks to some of the lowest fees in the industry.
With this strong technical and service foundation, LiveKlass has continued to see steady growth. As of September 2024, more than 18,000 customers have created their own sites across a wide range of categories, including career development, entrepreneurship, side hustles, languages, stock trading, real estate, and book clubs.
In the past year, over 4 million users have engaged with LiveKlass, with monthly active users (MAU) exceeding 500,000, driving rapid growth.
LiveKlass’s annual transaction volume has quadrupled for two consecutive years since 2022. Over the past two years, quarterly transaction volumes have grown more than 16 times without a single decline. In addition, since April 2024, the company has achieved monthly breakeven, showcasing its strong upward momentum in both revenue and profitability.
Heejung Baek, Managing Director at Murex Partners, who led the investment, said, “LiveKlass has become a key player in helping knowledge creators, who often struggle with monetizing their subscriber base, generate revenue through diverse content formats. FutureScholé is accelerating the success of these creators, and we believe LiveKlass is well-positioned to become the top D2C SaaS service for the rapidly growing creator market.”
The global outlook for the creator economy remains positive. In a report released last April, Goldman Sachs projected that the global creator economy would double in size within the next five years, growing from $250 billion in 2023 to $480 billion by 2027. The report attributes this growth to increased digital media consumption and new platforms that lower the barriers to content creation.
FutureScholé CEO Chulheon Shin added, “The technology and platform that Goldman Sachs identified as lowering content production barriers globally is precisely what LiveKlass represents in Korea. This funding will enable us to continue securing high-quality content and further enhance our automation systems, sustaining our strong growth trajectory.”
