Korea’s SDT Partners with MIMOS to Launch Malaysia’s First Quantum Computing Center
SDT, a South Korean company specializing in quantum technology, has partnered with ‘MIMOS Technology Solutions Sdn Bhd (MTSSB)’, a subsidiary of Malaysia’s MIMOS, to establish Malaysia’s first quantum computing center. The announcement was made on the 14th.
MIMOS, Malaysia’s national R&D center under the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI), leads efforts to promote digital infrastructure growth and technological innovation in Malaysia. As a subsidiary of MIMOS, MTSSB plays a crucial role in industrial projects that leverage MIMOS’ cutting-edge technologies.
Through this partnership, SDT aims not only to lay the foundation for quantum computing in Malaysia but also to strengthen Malaysia’s competitiveness in quantum technology by connecting MIMOS’ expertise with industry applications.
This collaboration with Malaysia is significant, as it showcases the global potential of Korean quantum technology and Korea’s growing presence as a leader in the field. The Korean government has been actively supporting quantum innovation through strategic R&D investments and policies, enabling SDT to advance rapidly in developing next-generation quantum solutions. This includes its work on national quantum computing projects and the successful commercialization of quantum control equipment and quantum cloud technology essential for manufacturing quantum computers.
MTSSB commented, “The partnership with SDT represents an important leap for Malaysia as it steps into the global quantum technology arena.”
Jiwon Yoon, CEO of SDT, added, “With our unique intellectual property and manufacturing capabilities in ultra-precision electronics, SDT has proven itself in developing advanced quantum computing solutions and quantum communications. Based on these strengths, we will continue to expand our presence in Malaysia and fully support Malaysia as a strategic partner in building competitive advantage in quantum technology.”
