Gyeonggi CCEI Awarded ‘Rising Star’ at 2024 SES Awards by ICC

The Gyeonggi Center for Creative Economy & Innovation(Gyeonggi CCEI) in Korea has won the ‘Rising Star’ award at the 2024 Startup Ecosystem Stars Awards (SES Awards) organized by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC)

Sponsored by Microsoft and managed by ICC along with Mind the Bridge, the SES Awards is a global recognition program that honors institutions for their contributions to energizing the worldwide startup ecosystem. Evaluations are based on the quality of startup incubation programs, the facilitation of investments, entrepreneurship development, and contributions to industrial promotion.

The Gyeonggi CCEI was recognized as one of 29 global ‘Rising Stars’ for its dynamic growth fueled by innovative programs and robust support systems. Since its inception in 2015, the center has been pivotal in helping Korean startups enter global markets and supporting foreign innovation companies in Korea, thus spearheading the globalization of Korea’s startup ecosystem.

Director Kim Won-kyung remarked, “As a global nexus among Korea’s CCEI, the Gyeonggi CCEI was honored for its ‘Top-tier Elevator Program’, which selects promising startups across regions to aid their expansion into major international markets. This accolade underscores our commitment to boosting Korean startups’ global outreach and facilitating the domestic growth of international innovators, in collaboration with other CCEI nationwide.”

Furthermore, the ICC has hosted the Corporate Startup Stars (CSS) Awards since 2016, recognizing global companies that actively engage with startups. At this year’s ninth ceremony, NVIDIA was named the most innovative company of 2024, highlighting the achievements of 100 globally recognized companies.
