GenGenAI, a company specializing in AI-generated synthetic data technology, announced on the 7th that it has raised approximately $8.9 million (KRW 12 billion) in its Series A funding round. The investment included participation from Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) and one other investor, bringing the company’s total funding to date to approximately $12.6 million (KRW 17 billion).

GenGenAI develops synthetic data solutions powered by generative AI. By leveraging domain-specific generative AI technologies for defense, security, and surveillance, the company can rapidly generate high-quality data that would otherwise be difficult to collect in real-world environments. Its technology can reduce data collection time by up to 90% and costs by more than 50%, significantly improving the efficiency and accuracy of AI model training. Thanks to its cutting-edge technology, GenGenAI was selected as a top AI company in the “2024 Defense Industry Innovation 100” initiative and won an AI Innovation Award at “CES 2025” for its synthetic data generation platform, GenGenStudio.
The company is actively collaborating with domestic defense companies, including KAI, as well as military and defense research institutions to generate synthetic data that supports AI-powered advanced defense capabilities. In the automotive sector, GenGenAI is working closely with automakers and component suppliers in Korea, Europe, and the United States to provide synthetic data for developing autonomous driving, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and driver monitoring systems (DMS).
With this latest funding, GenGenAI plans to further enhance its synthetic data generation technology to support a wide range of defense weapon systems. The company is also developing advanced methods for selecting and producing high-quality synthetic data for AI training. Additionally, it will invest in GPU infrastructure and expand its talent pool.
Cho Ho-jin, CEO of GenGenAI, stated, “The defense industry is a sector where real-world data collection is extremely challenging and requires the highest levels of accuracy and diversity. We have confirmed that synthetic data can provide a powerful solution to these challenges. Despite the difficult investment climate, securing funding from a major defense company is a significant milestone for us. To contribute to the advancement of Korea’s defense sector, we will continue to produce high-quality data across land, sea, air, and space.”
Founded in January 2022, GenGenAI is composed of experts with extensive research experience and hands-on expertise in image processing and computer vision. The team’s deep understanding of image and video data, particularly in AI startups, has been a key strength. Within just three months of its founding, the company secured investment from Naver D2SF, demonstrating the strength of its technology.
