Lunit Expands AI Mammography Screening in UAE with SEHA Deal

A Korean medical AI company, Lunit, has signed a supply agreement with Abu Dhabi Health Services Co. (SEHA), the largest healthcare service provider in the Middle East, for its AI-powered mammography analysis solution, “Lunit INSIGHT MMG.” With this partnership, Lunit will officially participate in Abu Dhabi’s national breast cancer screening program.

Since entering Australia in 2022, Lunit has been expanding its presence in the global cancer screening market across Europe, including Sweden and Iceland, as well as in parts of Latin America and the Middle East, such as Saudi Arabia and Qatar. This new contract with the UAE further accelerates Lunit’s expansion in the global B2G (business-to-government) market.

Established in 2007, SEHA is the largest integrated healthcare service provider in the Middle East, operating 14 general hospitals and 70 clinics, with a total capacity of over 3,000 hospital beds and more than 2,300 physicians. SEHA delivers world-class medical services across the region.

Lunit and SEHA first signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in October 2022. Over the past two years, SEHA has evaluated Lunit’s AI solution in local medical institutions, leading to this formal agreement. SEHA plans to utilize Lunit’s AI technology to analyze over 100,000 mammography images over the next five years.

Lunit CEO Beom-Seok Seo stated, “This agreement is the result of UAE medical professionals directly verifying the excellence of Lunit’s AI solution through rigorous pre-verification processes. Leveraging the rapidly growing medical AI market in the Middle East, we will accelerate the global expansion of national cancer screening programs.”

Meanwhile, according to a report by global market research firm Grand View Research, the Middle Eastern medical AI market was valued at approximately USD 200 million (about 289 billion KRW) as of late last year and is expected to expand significantly to USD 1.5 billion (about 2.17 trillion KRW) within the next 5–7 years. Notably, the UAE, which boasts advanced medical infrastructure within the Middle East, is experiencing an annual growth rate of 34.6% in its medical AI market and is projected to reach USD 137.9 million (about 199 billion KRW) by 2030.
