The Invention Lab Invests $750K in 5 Bio & Healthcare Startups


The Invention Lab announced on the 20th that it has invested approximately $750,000 (KRW 1 billion) in five promising startups in the bio and healthcare sectors. The investment focused on startups specializing in advanced technologies such as robotic surgery assistance, digital pathology, and bio-material development. It was executed in collaboration with The Invention Lab’s open innovation program and strategic funds.

The startups that received investment include: H.MedicGear (CEO Hwang Hee-sun), which develops robotic solutions for laparoscopic surgery assistance; The K Company (CEO Kim Sung-woo), which creates IT solutions for digital transformation in the cosmetic clinical sector; URBAN DATALAB (CEO Ahn Chi-sung), which develops AI-powered digital pathology and cancer diagnosis support solutions; Derma Re (CEO Han Ji-sung), which specializes in high-purity vegan PDRN (Polydeoxyribonucleotide) derived from seaweed; and Carbon en Nature (CEO Shin Hyun-yong), an eco-friendly technology company that repurposes oyster shells using carbon capture and conversion technology.

Minsoo Kim, Director of The Invention Lab’s investment team, highlighted, “With this investment, we aim to actively support startups driving innovation in the bio and healthcare sectors, helping them scale rapidly.” He added, “We will continue to prioritize strategic investments and expand our network, especially focusing on companies with high potential for global market entry.”
As an official operator of TIPS, Seoul-type TIPS, and LIPS, The Invention Lab plans to further expand its investments in deep-tech and bio startups with strong commercialization potential. Additionally, through its open innovation program, it will support portfolio companies in accelerating their market entry by fostering collaborations with major corporations and hospitals.
