GRINERGY and TitanVolt Partner to Push LTO Battery Solutions Across Europe

South Korean lithium titanate oxide (LTO) battery specialist GRINERGY announced on the 9th that it has secured a USD 1.5 million investment (approximately 2 billion KRW) from UK-based energy solutions company TitanVolt, marking a significant step forward in its efforts to expand into the European market.

The investment agreement was signed on April 7 at GRINERGY’s Seoul headquarters, with CFO Kyung-yoon Woo and TitanVolt CEO Neill Richardson in attendance. This agreement builds on the strategic partnership the two companies formed in December last year. As part of the extended collaboration, GRINERGY and TitanVolt have agreed to broaden the scope of their joint initiatives to cover a wide range of LTO battery-powered energy solutions.

Following the investment, GRINERGY plans to ramp up its local investment and business development activities across Europe. In addition to its existing off-grid lighting products, the company is aiming to enter industrial sectors that demand high-output batteries, such as railways, shipbuilding, construction, and mining equipment.

TitanVolt, headquartered in Gateshead, UK, specializes in off-grid lighting systems powered by solar and wind energy, as well as residential and industrial energy storage systems (ESS). With this partnership, the two companies plan to co-develop ESS solutions based on GRINERGY’s LTO battery cell technology and distribute them throughout Europe.

GRINERGY’s LTO batteries are regarded as highly suitable for the European market, where safety is a key concern. Compared to conventional lithium-ion batteries, LTO batteries offer a lower risk of ignition and longer lifespan, making them ideal for ESS installations in buildings. Their fast-charging and high-output capabilities also position them as next-generation battery solutions for high-load applications in sectors like transportation and heavy industry.

Building on this collaboration, GRINERGY and TitanVolt have also agreed to explore battery co-development opportunities in areas such as hydrogen infrastructure, hydrogen-powered buses, and mining equipment. Under the partnership, GRINERGY will provide the core LTO technology and cells, while TitanVolt will develop optimized battery packs for commercial use. This structure enables GRINERGY not only to generate revenue from cell sales but also to earn additional income through technology royalties.

“This investment validates both our technology and the trust we’ve earned in global markets,” said GRINERGY CEO Bang Sung-yong. “Through our partnership with TitanVolt, we’re committed to delivering competitive battery solutions across a wide range of applications in Europe and continuing our path of sustainable growth.”

GRINERGY is a mass producer of LTO battery cells and also supplies small components to automotive manufacturers. Since January, it has been supplying parts to U.S. electric vehicle maker Lucid Motors and is currently in close discussions for additional orders.
