CUBIG Raises Series A Funding to Accelerate Global Expansion of AI Security and Synthetic Data Solutions

Korean AI security and synthetic data startup CUBIG has secured Series A funding, with participation from UK-based investment firm Iona Star LP and domestic venture capital Friend Investment Partners. This latest round brings CUBIG’s cumulative funding to over approximately USD 6.7 million(KRW 9 billion).

CUBIG possesses proprietary technology capable of generating high-quality synthetic data required for AI training and analytics without accessing sensitive information. Its flagship product, X-PERT, is a no-code AI platform based on differential privacy technology that can create and simulate multimodal datasets usable across various industries—without relying on real data. The company’s client base includes major Korean financial institutions and public agencies with high security requirements, such as Kyobo Life Insurance, Industrial Bank of Korea(IBK), and Gangnam District Office. CUBIG is also preparing for SaaS-based scalability through onboarding to the Naver Cloud Platform.

The newly raised capital will be prioritized for establishing local subsidiaries in key markets such as the UK, strengthening sales and marketing capabilities for global expansion, and securing top-tier talent. In parallel, CUBIG plans to accelerate the development of customized AI agent models for industries including finance, public services, and healthcare. The company also aims to evolve into an integrated data ecosystem platform that connects the full lifecycle from data generation and validation to trading and utilization.

This investment marks a recognition of CUBIG’s technological prowess and business potential in global markets. In particular, under Europe’s stringent privacy regulations such as GDPR, CUBIG’s differential privacy-based synthetic data technology stands out as a unique solution. Iona Star LP plans to collaborate with CUBIG to conduct proof-of-concept projects with European financial institutions and big tech companies, actively supporting the spread of its technology.

Bae Ho, CEO of CUBIG, stated “This investment is significant in that it secures strategic partnerships for our global market entry. Leveraging our proven technology and business track record, we will accelerate expansion into European and North American markets, aiming to become a world-leading AI data infrastructure company.”CUBIG was founded by Bae Ho, who authored the world’s first academic paper defining security and privacy in AI. The company has previously attracted investment from Naver D2SF and the Korea Development Bank. Recently, CUBIG was listed as a next-generation key vendor in the “Emerging Tech: Hyper-Synthetic Data” report by global research firm Gartner, which recognized its unique competitive advantage in a platform architecture integrating privacy protection and analytics technology.
