Soymedia Secures New Investment to Expand Global Webtoon and Web Novel IP Production

Soymedia, a Korean studio specializing in the global production of webtoon and web novel IPs, has secured new investment from multiple institutions, including Hyundai Technology Investment.

Focused on female-oriented genres, Soymedia produces competitive webtoon IPs for global markets such as Japan, North America, and China. Its recent title 101st Confession (101回目の告白) topped KakaoPage’s weekly overall ranking in Korea and ranked first in Piccoma Japan’s daily overall chart, demonstrating strong commercial potential.

Other original IP-based works, including The Obsidian Bride and Let Me Sleep, have continued to attract attention. Additionally, several new titles are set to launch, such as the novel-based “noble comic” I’m a Homebody, But I’ve Been Reincarnated into a Dark Confinement Story, further expanding the studio’s portfolio. In 2024, Soymedia also secured strategic investment from KakaoPiccoma.

CEO Sehyun Heo stated, “As Korean content garners global attention, one of the greatest challenges for webtoon studios is creating works recognized not only domestically but also by overseas readers. At Soymedia, we have devoted significant time to exploring and experimenting with various approaches, and our works are now enjoying considerable success in Japan and other countries.”

He added, “With this latest investment, we plan to create IPs that meet the expectations of readers in Japan, North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia, further advancing our potential as a global IP studio.”
