SaesolTech, a Korean startup developing autonomous vehicle and mobility security solutions, has raised approximately USD 7.7 million(KRW 10 billion) in Series B funding. The round was led by Smilegate Investment, with participation from existing investor FuturePlay. With this investment, SaesolTech has secured a cumulative total of over USD 10 million(KRW 13 billion) in just four years since its founding.
SaesolTech provides V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything) communication security solutions that enable autonomous vehicles and various mobility services to exchange data in a reliable and trusted manner. The company’s core technology, SCMS (Security Credential Management System), functions as a cryptographic authentication key that allows vehicles, roads, and traffic infrastructure to securely exchange information while effectively blocking security threats that may arise during communication.
The company’s strength lies in its dramatically faster certificate issuance and authentication speed compared to existing methods, reducing processes from minutes to seconds, while its automated configuration enhances both stability and productivity. This unique technological edge has been validated through awards at domestic and international competitions and testbeds. Moreover, SaesolTech is spearheading the development of global standards by leading the establishment of testing specifications for IEEE 1609.2.1, an international standard for autonomous vehicle security.
Recently, following its successful completion of the global WebTrust certification, a key requirement for security accreditation, SaesolTech achieved a breakthrough by being officially listed in the “Production CTL (Certificate Trust List)” of the North American V2X security policy authority, SCMS Manager. This marks the first-ever achievement by a company outside North America, signifying SaesolTech’s eligibility for entry into the North American market.
Having now met all security requirements necessary for entry into the global V2X mass-production market, SesolTech is currently in the final selection stage to supply its S2X™ CMS (PKI-based security credential management system) for a U.S. federal government-led V2X infrastructure project. The company is also expanding collaborations with major global system integrators as it accelerates its international market strategy.
The newly raised funds will be primarily allocated to strengthening research and development, expanding into overseas markets, and recruiting top talent. SaesolTech aims to accelerate the development of next-generation V2X security technologies and solidify its position as a critical security infrastructure provider for the autonomous driving era.
Kyung-woo Seo, Managing Director at Smilegate Investment, stated, “The global V2X market is rapidly expanding with the growth of autonomous vehicles and smart cities. SaesolTech’s unrivaled technological leadership in international standards positions it as a company with significant potential to grow into a global unicorn.”
SaesolTech CEO Jun-hyuk Han commented, “The era of full autonomy cannot arrive without guaranteed secure communications. We aspire to establish ourselves as the global leader in V2X security and contribute to accelerating the commercialization of autonomous driving.”
