Comprehensive water treatment company EcoES announced that it has secured a total investment of USD 1.45 million (KRW 2 billion). This round saw participation from EcoPro Partners, Sopoong Ventures, and Gangwon Center for Creative Economy & Innovation.
EcoES is a comprehensive water treatment company that handles the entire process from managing wastewater treatment facilities to comprehensive commissioning, process design, and construction. Starting as Changil Environmental Technology Group in 1997, it developed its unique water treatment method, TBCR-Ⅱ, in the early 2000s, and has continued its growth by entering the public sewage management agency business in the early 2010s. Currently, it operates over 200 sites in 8 regions, including Gangwon and Seoul, and holds the largest record in the comprehensive commissioning sector in Korea.
This investment marks a turning point for EcoES to accelerate its business expansion beyond water treatment into the climate tech sector. The company plans to contribute to achieving carbon neutrality through its entry into the biogas business, along with methane upgrading and carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technologies. In particular, energy conversion using organic waste resources generated at water treatment sites is expected to become a new growth axis, aligning with future global demand for carbon reduction.
EcoPro Partners stated, “EcoES is expanding into the energy and carbon neutrality sectors based on its stable water treatment business. High commercialization potential is expected based on a clear roadmap, proven technology, and excellent personnel.”
Hae-jung Lee, CEO of Gangwon Center for Creative Economy & Innovation, said, “This investment aligns with climate tech, one of the seven future industry sectors of the Gangwon Strategic Industry Venture Fund, which was recently formed with a size of USD 76.5 million (KRW 105.6 billion). As EcoES, a representative water treatment company in Gangwon Province, leads new climate tech businesses, it will lay the foundation for growth across the region and industry.”
Taejun Yoon, Vice President of EcoES, emphasized, “Along with attracting investment, we are preparing government R&D projects. We will expand the scope of our existing business while making carbon neutrality and eco-friendly energy technology our new growth engine to leap forward as a global climate tech leader.”
