SN Display Wins CES 2026 Innovation Award in Imaging Category

SN Display, a developer of innovative display materials, announced Tuesday that it has won an Innovation Award in the Imaging category at ‘CES 2026‘, the world’s largest consumer electronics show.

The award recognizes the company’s ‘Perovskite Color Conversion Film’, a core material for next-generation displays. The CES Innovation Award validates SN Display’s proprietary perovskite nanocrystal patent technology as commercially viable for the display industry.

SN Display’s perovskite color conversion film achieves over 95% coverage of the ‘Rec.2020’ color gamut, the next-generation standard for color reproduction—a level that existing Quantum Dot technology has yet to reach.

The breakthrough comes from the company’s self-developed high-efficiency perovskite nanocrystals (PeNCs), which boast a photoluminescence quantum efficiency exceeding 90% and an emission linewidth below 25nm. This enables natural color reproduction with sharply distinguished hues.

The film can be continuously produced via roll-to-roll processing at widths of 110cm and lengths exceeding 100m, maintaining uniform optical performance even on large 75-inch TV panels, according to the company.

A key advantage is the film’s seamless compatibility with existing blue LED backlight displays. Manufacturers can integrate it without new equipment or structural modifications, enabling high-performance production while preserving existing infrastructure.

The company has addressed perovskite materials’ traditional vulnerabilities to humidity and heat through proprietary particle protection technology and polymer matrix structures. The film maintains stable performance in high-temperature, high-humidity environments, making it suitable for demanding applications like automotive displays and medical monitors.

Industry experts consider perovskite emitters ideal for ultra-high-resolution pixel arrays in AR and VR applications. The technology’s value is expected to increase as displays continue to shrink.

SN Display filed the world’s first patent for perovskite emitters in November 2014 and currently holds 9 international (PCT) and domestic patents. The company is pursuing both internal commercialization and technology licensing partnerships with display manufacturers worldwide.

“This CES Innovation Award represents international recognition that our decade of perovskite research translates into practical industrial applications,” said CEO Tae-woo Lee. “We’ve delivered a realistic solution that simultaneously enhances color expression and energy efficiency without requiring manufacturers to overhaul their existing facilities.”

Lee added that the company will aggressively pursue commercialization and technology partnerships to establish perovskite color conversion film as a next-generation display platform technology that delivers on light efficiency, color expression, and sustainability.
