Omnicoat Wins CES 2026 Innovation Award with SteelChroma Toner, World’s First Dry Toner for Metal Digital Printing
Omnicoat announced it has been named an Innovation Award Honoree in the Construction & Industrial Tech category at the CES 2026 Innovation Awards, the world’s largest technology exhibition. The winning product, SteelChroma Toner, is an in-house developed dry toner specifically designed for metal digital printing. The technology represents a world-first breakthrough that overcomes existing limitations in digitally rendering high-resolution images on metal substrates.

SteelChroma Toner features a proprietary composition engineered to address the unique characteristics of metal surfaces, including thermal conductivity, hardness, and surface roughness. The result is exceptional adhesion, corrosion resistance, and scratch resistance on metal substrates. This advancement enables unprecedented design freedom and high-durability digital imaging that conventional methods—such as painting, gravure printing, and PCM color steel plates—struggle to achieve. Moreover, as a completely dry process that eliminates ink, solvents, and wastewater, it dramatically improves both environmental performance and production efficiency while aligning with key Construction & Industrial Tech trends including ESG compliance, digital manufacturing, and customized production.
The CES Innovation Awards jury recognized SteelChroma Toner’s technical excellence across four key dimensions. First, its material engineering innovation in creating a dry toner composition specifically for metal substrates. Second, its integrated engineering platform that combines toner, fusion systems, and surface treatment processes. Third, the environmental superiority of its dry manufacturing process that operates without ink, VOCs, or wastewater. Fourth, its high scalability with immediate applicability across construction and industrial sectors, from building materials and home appliance exteriors to industrial panels. This comprehensive evaluation positioned SteelChroma Toner as a transformative technology poised to reshape the next-generation metal printing market within the Construction & Industrial Tech field.
Building on this recognition, Omnicoat plans to accelerate both digital transformation and eco-friendly process innovation throughout the metal materials industry. The company is strengthening its market responsiveness through a comprehensive digital printing production facility currently under construction in Pohang, scheduled for completion in 2025. This Pohang plant will serve as a hybrid production platform equipped with both dry and wet digital printing systems, enabling the company to serve diverse markets spanning metal-based architecture and home appliances, as well as public and industrial specialty panel applications. The facility will be particularly well-positioned to deliver process-selective solutions (wet or dry) for markets demanding high-durability metal products, including signage, safety information boards, outdoor information displays, and commemorative plaques.
Looking ahead, Omnicoat plans to leverage SteelChroma Toner as the centerpiece of an expanded global strategy. This includes deepening partnerships with North American and European customers, advancing collaborative development projects internationally, and establishing new industry standards for metal digital printing. The company views this CES 2026 Innovation Award as a pivotal milestone that will strengthen international confidence in Omnicoat’s technology and accelerate its market expansion worldwide.
