LABINCUBE Raises $9.9M Series B to Scale MOF-Based Advanced Materials Platform
LABINCUBE, a South Korean deep-tech startup specializing in Metal-Organic Framework (MOF)-based porous advanced materials, has secured approximately $9.9M USD (KRW 14.7 billion) in a Series B funding round. The round was led by MetaBiomed, a global biodegradable medical materials company participating as a strategic investor (SI), alongside follow-on participation from existing investors BNH Investment, Union Investment Partners, and JKP Partners.

Founded by Professor Kyungmin Choi of Sookmyung Women’s University’s Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, LABINCUBE has built its business around the proprietary CUBRIX™ materials platform, which enables precise molecular-level pore design. The company had previously raised approximately $3.4M USD (KRW 5.1 billion) in a Series A round.
Alongside the funding, LABINCUBE and MetaBiomed formalized a joint R&D and commercialization agreement, establishing a strategic partnership that combines LABINCUBE’s core materials technology with MetaBiomed’s manufacturing infrastructure. The two companies plan to collaborate on next-generation polymer fillers and other medical device applications targeting global markets.
LABINCUBE is recognized as the world’s first company to successfully commercialize MOF materials, a class of porous crystalline structures that were at the center of the 2025 Nobel Prize in Chemistry. Through CUBRIX™, the company precisely engineers the spacing between molecules to create porous structures of defined dimensions — enabling highly selective adsorption, filtration, and sustained release of target substances.
The company has already demonstrated tangible commercial traction across multiple verticals. In the air and water purification segment, LABINCUBE developed MOFAC, an innovative filter material capable of selectively adsorbing and separating pollutants at the molecular level. The technology was adopted by LG Electronics for use in the PuriCare air purifier. In the aesthetics and skincare segment, the company deploys its INCUBE material — optimized for loading and sustained release of functional ingredients — through two next-generation skin booster brands: Nuireh and PLLACUBE. Products are now distributed through direct brand exports and OEM supply to global partners across 32 countries, including markets in the United States, Europe, and Asia.
LABINCUBE was also selected as a “Baby Unicorn” by South Korea’s Ministry of SMEs and Startups, a program recognizing high-potential startups with strong growth trajectories.
“The continued backing from our existing investors, combined with the addition of MetaBiomed as a strong strategic partner, further validates LABINCUBE’s technology and commercialization capabilities,” said Kyungmin Choi, CEO of LABINCUBE. “Building on this Series B, we will advance our MOF-based materials platform and deliver breakthrough results with global competitiveness across the chemistry and biomedical sectors.”
