Korean BMS Chip Startup Anabatic Semi Raises $10M Series A Follow-on Round

Anabatic Semi, a South Korean semiconductor startup specializing in battery management system (BMS) chips, has closed a 15 billion KRW (approximately $10M USD) Series A follow-on funding round. Existing backers Smilegate Investment, Mirae Asset Venture Investment, and JB Investment participated in the follow-on, while IBK Industrial Bank of Korea, iM Investment Partners, and EcoPro Partners joined as new investors.

Founded in 2024, Anabatic Semi has completed development of its Analog Front-End (AFE) IC, the ABS8210 — a core component that enables real-time monitoring and cell balancing for batteries used in energy storage systems (ESS) and electric vehicles (EV). The company is now gearing up for mass production. Anabatic Semi has drawn significant attention as a contender to lead the domestic shift in a BMS chip market long dominated by foreign players, having developed what it describes as the first integrated solution of its kind in South Korea.

The company was co-founded by Sewoong Jeong, who previously led development of Samsung Electronics’ Exynos mobile application processors and headed the mid-to-large battery division at Samsung SDI. In 2025, Anabatic Semi further strengthened its technical capabilities by merging with Cjign, an analog design specialist.

A spokesperson from Smilegate Investment said that localizing BMS chips is essential to securing South Korea’s competitive edge in the secondary battery industry, and that the firm will continue to support Anabatic Semi as it positions itself to lead that effort.

Sewoong Jeong noted that the fresh capital will be used to simultaneously accelerate mass production preparations for the ABS8210 and advance next-generation product development, with an ambition to grow into a globally competitive BMS semiconductor company representing South Korea.
