POSCO Group has invested in Brils, a robotics automation solutions company, as part of a broader push to drive AI transformation across its manufacturing operations. The investment totals approximately $4.67M (KRW 7B), comprising $3.33M (KRW 5B) from POSCO Holdings’ strategic fund and $1.33M (KRW 2B) through POSCO INVESTMENT, the group’s corporate venture capital arm.

Through the deal, POSCO Group aims to combine its decades of manufacturing expertise with Brils’ capabilities in robot design and control systems. The two companies plan to co-develop automated operational systems that go beyond standard robot manufacturing, targeting what POSCO calls an “intelligent factory” — a next-generation production environment where humans, AI, and robots collaborate in an autonomous manufacturing process. The initiative will focus first on high-intensity manual processes and tasks with elevated safety risks, deploying customized robots to improve both safety and productivity on the factory floor.
POSCO Group has been steadily building a robotics portfolio through its venture fund and POSCO INVESTMENT, with prior investments totaling approximately $12.67M (KRW 19B) in companies including quadruped robot developer Aiding Robotics, robot hand specialist Tesllo, collaborative robot maker Neuromeka, and industrial humanoid robot company Persona AI. The group said it will continue expanding the adoption of robot and AI-based autonomous processes and plans to roll out the intelligent factory model across all of its operations.
Brils was founded in 2015 and has established itself as one of South Korea’s leading system integration (SI) companies, holding more than 110 patents in automation technology. The company has deployed its automation solutions at major manufacturers including Hyundai Motor and SK Ecoplant, and is pursuing a listing on the KOSDAQ exchange later this year.
