ARGOS Identity Secures $3M Pre-Series A Funding to Scale AI Agent Verification and Accelerate US Expansion

ARGOS Identity, a South Korean AI identity verification platform, has closed a $3 million (KRW 4.47 billion) pre-Series A round co-led by StoneBridge Ventures and BonAngels Venture Partners. Existing backers Asia2G Capital and KimGiSa Lab returned as follow-on investors, while fintech security firm ATON joined the round as a new strategic investor.

The round brings ARGOS Identity’s total funding to $5 million (KRW 7.45 billion). The company plans to use the fresh capital to advance its AI agent-based verification automation technology, expand its footprint in the domestic market, accelerate its push into the US, and hire core talent.

ARGOS Identity is a global identity platform offering AI-powered identity verification (eKYC) and document authentication. Its technology combines facial recognition, liveness detection, optical character recognition (OCR), and forgery detection to confirm a user’s real identity quickly and accurately in online environments.

The company currently supports more than 4,000 types of identification documents across over 195 countries, underpinning a global-grade verification infrastructure. Clients across a range of industries — including Kakao Entertainment, NHN Link, YES24, Sentbe, and Hanpass — have adopted ARGOS Identity’s solutions.

Among enterprise clients with high-volume identity verification needs, the company grew fourfold year-over-year and now counts more than 35 corporate customers, expanding rapidly. Investors pointed to this growth trajectory, along with the company’s positioning to capture the emerging “digital trust infrastructure” market that is expected to become essential in the AI era, as key reasons behind the investment.

In May, ARGOS Identity launched OMNI, an AI agent-based verification automation service. OMNI automates the repetitive work of checking, comparing, cross-referencing, and reviewing external documents and data. The platform analyzes and cross-verifies materials such as business registration certificates, contracts, bank statements, identification documents, and other supporting records, effectively taking over review tasks on behalf of businesses. This allows companies across finance, platforms, commerce, franchising, and gaming to automate verification-heavy workflows, freeing staff to focus on higher-value decisions and core tasks.

Beyond document automation, ARGOS Identity plans to evolve into a next-generation identity platform capable of verifying not only human users but also the identity and authority of AI agents.

Since entering the US market in 2023, ARGOS Identity has operated out of Washington, D.C., actively targeting the US East Coast and Latin American markets. As global service environments increasingly demand trust verification not just for human users but for tasks and transactions carried out by AI on their behalf, the company aims to use this funding round to position itself as an identity infrastructure provider verifying both people and AI.

“ARGOS Identity is a company that combines strong technology, rapid growth, and global scalability,” said Yeong-don Song, team lead at StoneBridge Ventures. “We decided to invest because we believe the company has what it takes to build the trust infrastructure that will be essential in the age of AI agents.”

“The pace of change driven by AI agents is accelerating,” said Wongyu Lee, CEO of ARGOS Identity. “This investment will help us further accelerate the automation of verification work and build the new trust infrastructure the AI era demands.” He added, “Going forward, it won’t be enough to simply confirm that a user is a real person — verifying who an AI agent is acting on behalf of, and under what authority, will become critical. ARGOS Identity will grow into a global identity platform connecting people, businesses, and AI agents.”
