Chabot Mobility Acquires SK Networks’ ‘The Carpet’ to Enhance Vehicle Management

South Korean mobility life platform Chabot Mobility has acquired SK Networks’ imported car maintenance platform “The Carpet.” Chabot aims to build a new vehicle management solution based on The Carpet’s O2O maintenance service, establishing a strong position in the aftercare market. The two companies signed an agreement transferring all of The Carpet’s business, assets, and infrastructure, with the final transfer expected by the end of next month.
Through this acquisition, Chabot plans to absorb The Carpet’s imported car maintenance network and infrastructure to refine its integrated vehicle management service. The goal is to link Chabot’s vehicle management service with The Carpet’s maintenance service, providing users with an enhanced experience, and considering specialized services for imported car drivers based on The Carpet’s user characteristics. The Carpet targets imported car drivers who face challenges in choosing a maintenance provider after the manufacturer’s warranty expires, planning tailored vehicle management services for these drivers.
Efforts will also be made to strengthen AI capabilities based on vehicle management and big data. Chabot’s seven years of operation have yielded around 1.14 million driver records, which will be connected with The Carpet’s data on over 1 million imported cars to design a new personalized service model.
The Carpet is an imported car-focused vehicle management platform developed by SK Networks in 2022. It provides services such as searching for the right imported car repair shop, viewing repair counts by car model, and managing maintenance history and consumables through automatic text recognition of repair invoices.
Chabot Mobility COO and Vice President Kang Byunghee stated, “We expect to showcase a new paradigm in vehicle management through the synergy of Chabot’s digital auto-commerce capabilities, covering the entire car purchasing process in one stop, and The Carpet’s O2O maintenance infrastructure and big data.” Kang added, “We aim to systematically complete The Carpet’s advanced O2O maintenance service to easily solve the vehicle management difficulties faced by many drivers.”
