Gymwork Secures Seed Investment to Revolutionize Personalized Fitness App Solutions
Gymwork, a personalized Korean fitness app, announced on the 25th that it has secured seed investment from Mashup Ventures. Gymwork is a personalized fitness solution that provides workout programs and data analysis based on users’ health conditions, body types, and fitness levels. The app offers expert exercise routines suitable for beginners, video guides, workout analysis, and social features for motivation.

CEO Joo-yong Kim, with planning and development experience at companies like Hyperconnect, discovered the limitations of existing fitness solutions through his bodybuilding competition preparation and years of exercise experience. Along with team members who have extensive experience at B2C unicorn companies (private companies valued at over KRW 1 trillion / USD 750 million) like Danggn and Today’s House, he decided to start a company aimed at providing data-driven personalized fitness solutions beyond simple workout tracking.
Sang-hyuk In, partner at Mashup Ventures who led this investment, stated, “We highly valued Gymwork team’s clear understanding of the high demand for digital fitness solutions among the self-management-focused MZ generation and their pain points. Under CEO Joo-yong Kim’s leadership with global capabilities and technical expertise, we believe they can accelerate their overseas expansion.”
Inspired by the growing influence of fitness influencers, the app provides personalized workout plans including verified expert-planned long-term exercise guides of 4+ weeks and personal workout tracking. This has led to high customer satisfaction, with over 140,000 cumulative downloads and a 50% revisit rate among new users.
CEO Kim said, “We’re focusing on customer expansion and satisfaction by securing qualified coaching staff, including national weightlifting athlete Yang-jae Lee, to enhance content expertise and diversity. We plan to expand globally through collaboration with international influencers and aim to achieve 700,000 monthly visitors by next year.”
